Advantages: brilliant quality, easy to use, lots of features

Disadvantages: expensive ink

The Canon iP6600D is a beautiful printer that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, in gunmetal gray and black.

The top control panel gives you access to the main functions in an at-a-glance style, allowing for navigation (through the on screen menu on the pull up screen) to print direct from media card or wireless printing through infrared or bluetooth (if USB dongle attached). The menu also gives you access to the maintenance area to perform tests on the printer and clean it. The slot on the right of the printer allows for insertion of Memory Stick/PRO, Microdrive, MultiMediaCard, SD Card, SmartMedia Card, Compact Flash for instant printing) which is handy for on-the-go printing.

The print quality is excellent when using the official cartridges and good quality paper however reduce the quality of either of these and the effects really start to show. The ability to print directly on to CD/DVDs is brilliant and really helps personalise clients CD's (photography company). Wireless printing via bluetooth is a very useful tool but (in the nature of bluetooth) is slow when trying to send anything bigger than text based documents. The offering of infrared printing is also useful though i have never used this and it seems to be a dieing feature on mobile phones now.

Available for around £50 on amazon second hand this is a quality photo printer that will not disappoint but be prepared for some fairly hefty ink bills with each official cartridge around £10 and the printers frequent need to purge taking up even more ink.

In terms of ease of use and reliability it is excellent with a very friendly menu system and easy installation and in its around 1 year or so of use it has not failed once.
