It was an innocent enough visit to my local Comet alright. I strode into the door with an air of resolution to my step, directly to the printer area of the store. I was determined alright: I was going to buy a BUDGET printer to replace my ageing HP DeskJet - my reason had told me earlier that I couldn't afford a more expensive one on my tight student budget. With this, I glanced casually over the budget HP's and Epson's (being a devout HP and Epson fan at this point) and hesitated for just one second. This one second was all it took for the enemy to sweep in, guns blazing, in an attempt to shoot me down... "Can I help you, sir?" uttered the ... Read the complete review

I bought the S520 mostly to print photos and some other fun stuff for the kids. I read some reviews form users in the States who were pleased and so took the plunge. It was easy to install onto Windows ME. I got a USB 1.1 cable from B&Q for £1.90 and it works fine. I had heard horror stories of photos taking ages to print but this printer is reputed to be fast and it is, even though I wanted quality rather than speed the speed is a nice bonus. A normal sized photo (4x6 inches) takes around 30 seconds at good resolution. The resolution is up to 2400x1200. It claims standard printing of 12 ppm and 6ppm for back and colour respectivly. I suspect these are over ... Read the complete review

DOS installation! Oh Dear! That's the comment that greeted me when I paid £50 for John Lewis to set up my new PC 18 months ago. I'd had a computer since about 1992 and my faithful NEC Superscript had served me well during that time. I could tell it's age though as the installation details are on floppy not CD! Anyway the printer was installed and all was well, until I started getting techno itchy feet - No I didn't want to go raving I wanted some new gadgets! Anyone who has posted a printer op on this site over the last few months may well have had comments from me, as I have been shopping around big time. Then after ... Read the complete review

Having just replaced my mechanical camera equipment with a new Canon G2 digital camera, I was very disappointed by the photo output from my Lexmark Z32. For letters and graphics it was adequate, though quite expensive on ink. So I started looking for a replacement and spent many hours on the net, searching various websites, studying reviews and prices of every make and current model. My selection criteria were: 1. I could only afford to spend £100 2. I wanted the best photo quality for the money 3. the best ink costs 4. the cleanest text 5. reasonably fastest print-out of photos 6. and USB 1.1 connectivity (I never did find ...
