Advantages: up to A3 sized printing, Cheap ink, Professional printer

Disadvantages: takes up a bit of space

The Canon S9000 A3 printer is a great entry level printer if you are looking to go into the professional world of printing. You could go out and spend £800+ on a top of the range Epson or go for the lower end HP printers and still not get the results you get with the S9000.

The Canon S9000 is priced at a reasonable £450 and does all the things a good professional printer does. You get 5 colours and black, which is why you get the term six colour printing as a Graphic Design Degree student. I know that A3 printer of a good quality are hard to find with out breaking the bank. It will work on both Mac with OS9 and above and work on PC with windows 98 and above.

I think an important thing to point out is that the price of the ink is very good. The way companies work in the world of printers is that the cheaper the printer is the more you will play out on the ink. Your run of the mill £100 printers ink will cost you £30 per colour but then you get into the high priced printers £300+ you get cheaper ink of around £6. There are five colour cartridges in the professional printer but they still work out cheaper than the run of the mill printer, as you can replace them individually when ones instead of the whole cartridge.

The Canon S9000 gives great print results up to A3, and has a feature that some printers do not have, which is edge to edge printing, (Borderless), this is great for your big pieces of design work or even you photos you have got. This feature makes landscape photos look even more breath taking.

The resolution is 2400/1400 and you get 12 B&W PPM, (pages/min), and 8 Colour PPM. Not super fast, but then you do not want it to be too fast or you will lose the quality.

The usb cable makes for fast printing, the large A3 prints can be over 40mb, and with usb, this information is sent to the printer extremely quickly. The software that you get from canon is as good as Photoshop, but then not many programs ar
e, but never the less it does the job. It does something no other printer i have ever used has.........it prints quietly.

I have used this printer on a Degree course where the printing has to be of a professional standard and i also know some Graphic Design professionals that use it and if it is good enough for them it is good enough for the home user.

I've read all of your reviews and they are of the same dire, dreadful and diabolical standard! You make a mockary of dooyoo; you see it as a pure money making scheme! With your writing skills I can't see you getting far. You've been a member 2 days and written 13 reviews, of which none read properly at all!
You manage to write whole paragraphs with one sentence, and the parts that do make sense I know you have gotten from else where! This isn't you work!
When you write a review that makes sense, I will stop posting this comment on it. I have used a different username to wrote these comments to prevent revenge rating, but dooyoo needs to be saved from users like you. 'User' just seems such an applicable term to you!
