The printer resolution is 1440dpi and can print 6 pages per minute which is a little slow but I am a home user and will rarely print more than a couple of pages at a time. I have made a few CD covers for personnel compilations (ooohhh, controversial) and the print quality on the glossy paper is great. The installation is very smooth and is user friendly. For example when I first installed the drivers it told me to put the cartridge in and even gave an on screen demonstr...more

Crowned Review Epson Stylus 580: Excellent Value for Money! (1802 words)
by - written on 21/02/01 (Very useful, 505 readings)
Rating:

Having had a need to replace my HP printer, I have been on the lookout for an affordable replacement that is cheap to run, but still has a decent print output. Having looked at the models available in my price range, I decided to settle for this model (which at a shade under £70 including delivery), was a good price for a colour printer with a 1440x720 dpi output. This opinion is split into two – the printer itself, and my dealings with Epson. The Printer Print Quality I can’t fault the print quality, it is clear, sharp and certainly better than my last printer (which I paid more for), plus the ink is dry when the page comes out ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review All round great printer. (241 words)

Okay, there are a few bad points so I'll get them out of the way first. 1. This is one noisy printer. My previous printer (an antique monochrome BJC 200ex) was a lot quieter. 2. USB only and the cable is not included. 3. A little bulky for all it does. Now the parts you have been waiting to hear. First this printer only costs £50 and falling. The running costs are almost non-existent; you can pick up unbranded cartridges for £5 each. The printer resolution is 1440dpi and can print 6 pages per minute which is a little slow but I am a home user and will rarely print more than a couple of pages at a time. Premium Review Epson Stylus 580: Excellent little printer (282 words)
by - written on 26/03/01 (Very useful, 317 readings)
Rating:

The Epson 580 is a very neat little printer which comes at a very reasonable price. It comes with paper trays and will give you 1440dpi printing resolution which is excellent for the price. It comes complete with a disc containing all the drivers you need to control your printing. You need a USB cable to connect it up and there wasn't one in the box. I had to make another trip to PC World to get one as they didn't tell me. Check this out at the cash desk or you might get home and find you can't install your printer. Print speeds are good for normal domestic use and you will get 6 pages per minute of black and white or 3.2 colour. It will ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Stylus 580 or no Stylus 580 that is thequestion! (128 words)

Rating:

I bought his printer about a year ago now simply because it was on a special offer, but i soon realised that i would pay the normal asking price because believe me it's worth it!. This dinky little printer is pretty quick at printing and the print quality is quite remarkable give the price of the thing. This could be because of the USB connection which make it ideal for laptop users. The only downside as with most other printers though is the ink cartridges are quite expensive but if you go against epsons recommendations and buy cheaper cartridges they give just as good a quality and last a lot longer. I would definately recomend this printer for anybody wanting a ...  Read the complete review
