Advantages: Excellent Quality Printing, Fast Printing, Excellent Customer Service
Disadvantages: Dodgy Paper Feed
OK, it's been discontinued, but I'm sure you can still get them from somewhere, and that there's a few new ones circulating, so I'll go ahead with giving my opinion on the C60. This was my second ever printer, having owned a HP for some years. The printer itself is nice and curvy and pleasing to look at. The print quality is what you'd expect from a printer of this price, but I was surprised and pleased to find out that when printing on photo quality paper, the quality of printing is wonderful - set it to photo quality ink jet paper and you have yourself some near lab-quality pictures. Also, the ink usage is far better than I could have hoped for, printing out 5 copies of my 10,000 word university dissertation and several other pieces of coursework on just under two cartridges of each type in the space of a year. The printer also has both usb and parallel connections, so you can make your choice dependent on your free connections and age of your PC. But then came the printer's downfall. It doesn't like it when you put more than around 10 sheets of paper in without fanning it first (ok, so I could have done this anyway, but more often than not you don't have time to fiddle around with this sort of thing). The feed will happily take in 20 sheets of paper at a time, crunch, click, and the paper feed is damaged beyond repair. The first time this occurred I was informed by Epson that the printer was not worth repairing, and was sent a shiny new one by courier the following day. Of course now I knew better, but one month ago it occurred again, out of warranty. No new printers this time from Epson - merely a suggestion to take it to my nearest authorised repair centre, where the repair cost would be more than the value. It's a nice machine but this fault, which seemingly has happened to more people than myself going by one of the reviews here, seems to outway the benefits of owning it. Better
buy a better spec model... or if you're me, stick to the brands that you're used to.

- 10/02/03 A good opinion. My first printer was the Epson Stylus 600. I was very pleased with it but, as with yours, it didn't like too much paper in at a time. No damage was caused, just a jam from time to time. |
