Advantages: Photo-quality without high costs

Disadvantages: Cannot change printheads cheaply

At present I am the owner of a 3½ year old Epson 400 printer. At the time, this printer cost £149 and was a superb printer in terms of photo-quality. It was not the best, but for the purchasing price it beat any other printer in its league.

The main problem with the printer at the time was its plain paper quality - feathering and dull colours in any resolution. However, things changed with the revised models and improvements have been seen in all areas. What the printer lacked in top end quality (it was and still is only a 720dpi printer) it has since gained in all round use. This was something only the Hp printers could manage until recently.

The Epson 460 has one other main outstanding quality - its price. An amazing £79 (or less if you look hard enough).

I defy anyone to suggest another printer that can produce photo-quality and low running costs in this price range.

I for one will never consider any other printer (unless I can afford a higher specification Epson next time).
