A good quality printer (Epson Stylus Color 740)

Advantages: Excellent print quality

Disadvantages: I would have preferred 4 colour ink cartridges

Just over a year ago I decided to change my computer for a more up to date model and as part of the upgrade wanted to get a new printer as well.

When buying something like a printer I like to read a few reviews in computer magazines or speak to someone who has already tried the model I'm interested in. On this occasion the one that caught my eye was the Epson 740 which was getting rave reviews.
After unpacking it I set about reading the minimum possible amount of the manual to get it up and running.

It didn't take long to get it going and it was soon obvious that the reviews were not over the top. The 1400 dpi print looked great even on plain paper and when I tried it on some of the special glossy paper provided the results were simply stunning.

Since then I have used my Epson to print countless thing for both work and home including printing off scanned in photos and almost professional quality greetings cards. As the price of printers has continued to fall over the past year I would certainly suggest you go for either this model or even one of the newer Epson range.
