Advantages: Build quality, print quality, good bundled software

Disadvantages: A bit heavy on ink

I bought the Epson Stylus 740 after reading very favourable reviews in the computer press, and following recommendations from work colleagues. It does indeed produce superb results out of all proportion to its cost, is well built and came with a very useful software pack and sample papers.

My only gripe with it lies with the ink cartridges, and the way it tells you to change them. We all know that photo quality prinitng uses ink like it's going out of fashion, but I have found that it tends to waltz through the combined three colour cartridge like ther's no tomorrow. It certainly is a lot thirstier than my HP1100C.

I also find the "you can change the cartridges when I say you can" system a bit of a bind; my HP lets me change them when I want to.

Otherwise, a great product, now superceeded by the 760 model I believe.
