This printer is annoying me.... (Epson Stylus Color 850)
Member Name: b-rokscarrie
Advantages: It prints Disadvantages: Too complicated a machine for everyday use
After our Lexmark 1000 Color Printer seemed to give up the ghost (although during its lifetime it had performed great) someone lent us an Epson 850 color Printer, which we still have at the moment, but after the performance of this one I would have to think twice before buying another Epson. It has so many buttons that flash as soon as the computer starts that it looks like something from outer space, which of course is not a problem in itself, but because the person who lent it to us can't find the manual to it, we can't fathom out half the buttons. We needed to replace the ink cartridge straight away as it clearly displayed 'ink out' and would not print, so I thought 'ah, I'll save some money by refilling it with the ink I bought from QVC,' compatible with most printers so it said. Not so. Filling it exactly as the ink refill leaflet told me to (it had this particular Epson model there) I then tried to install the cartridge, but no matter what buttons I pressed (don't forget,we had no manual!) it still said 'ink out' and wouldn't print. After days of frustration we finally gave in and bought another cartridge, and it printed. What a fussy printer,it doesn't like refillable cartridges. However, after only 3 weeks of light use, the cartridge ran out. Hardly surprising, as it only cost £4. Next time I buy a printer, I will be looking very carefully at opinions that people have written on the dooyoo page before I buy. Summary: |
