We bought this Epson colour printer a few months ago. I also have a HP 500 series (520, I think) and have been much happier with the quality/cost of the HP printouts.

Why are cartridges so expensive? Why does the colour run out even when you use mainly the B&W. Why do the ink refill kits cause problems with the ink indicator facility of the printer?

I also prefer the smaller footprint of the HP (as the paper feeds back on itself

Maybe, the problems I have had are because I cannot justofy paying the ridiculous prices for Epson consumables. Maybe because I was printing scanned photos. I just haven't been very happy with the results. I would be interested in other peoples opinions too
