After the office printer broke, I had to draft in aquick and reliable replacement while the main one (Aculaser C1000) was getting repaired.
It cost around £20 and since it was cheap and cheerful it was worked very hard. The inks are very cheap compared to other brands which is great if your doing alot of printing out. the printer is very good and it is still in great condition after being worked every day. the printer heads are really durable and if you clean them properly, will last you a very long time.
This printer prints 12 sheets a minute and has a capacity for 120. It can print out on card and glossy paper also but this does slow it down.
The print quality is actually very good for a printer of this price. General word documents are printed crisp and clear. Photos can be fuzzy at times but it was a printer that isn't designed to be doing just photos.
If you want a printer for general use, you can't really go wrong with this one. The cheap inks, print quality and durability are all things that should cause you to have a good look at this printer. As at the price I got it for (if you can find one) it is an absolute steal.
I bought this printer after having trouble with printers of other brands. I had a lot of difficulty installing other printers; HP and Lexmark on my computer so i though i would give Epson a try.
Firstly in my opinion this printer is absolutely good value for money. It is safe to use and is ideal in a home where there are kids. The printer allows you to print in both colour and black. However printing rubbish may cost you more than you think because the refill cartridges are very expensive. However you can get cheap unbranded refills. These are value for money.
The printer has electronic chips in each cartridge so when you do use the unbranded cartridges the printer recognises them, however it still lets you print. The printer takes 4 inks, unlike other old printers where they just take a colour and black; this printer requires 4 ink cartridges; 1 x black, 1 x cyan, 1 x magenta, 1 x yellow. Each ink has its own chip.
The printer has amazing quality and is ideal for printing photos. It prints pages to the maximum size of A4. The printer is fantastic and the quality of the prints is fantastic too. You need to see it to believe it!
The printing is also very fast; its compared to home printers. It is not as fast as printers which are used in large organisations and industries. The instruction manual also comes very useful if you have any problems. With the printer there is also a cd-rom which installs software which allows you to get help easily.
The printer itself cost £69 , from Currys. The printer came with 1 set of ink. However when this ran out I purchased the unbranded refill inks which cost me £17.99, and I bought these from www.rubberfrog.com. This pack included: 2 x Black, 1 x Cyan, 1 x Magenta, 1 x Yellow. You can mix and match any 5 inks for £17.99
After browsing the net and reading about this printer I took the plunge and brought it. WOW is all i can say ,Print quality for it's price is better then a colour laser I use at work. Photo output on the proper paper is near perfect quality with the ability to do borderless prints.
What i looked for was the economy of using the printer I didnt want to be spending a fortune on cartridges. This printer uses a 4 cartridge system After scouring the net Ebuyer has the best free delivery deal £16 for all 4 cartridges. I paid £ 65 for this entry level printer and for the last 5 months has been a workhorse for school work and office work.
Setup in windows xp was straightforward and installed and checked for newer updates. Out of the box to printing took less than 10 minutes. Noise level is as a standard inkjet printer. Well worth a look.
