Advantages: Great quality and prints.

Disadvantages: Chipped cartridge and false lifespan inkwise.

Epson have a really good reputation now, which has been built from releasing great printers. The quality of prints have been getting beyond normal and we can now have perfect imagery from home printers.
This is continued with the 1270 printer which has fantastic print quality as would be expected. The resolutions are as usual, from 180(economy)dpi upto 1440dpi. Photographic prints are getting better and this machine helps. The machine has a decent print speed, but that isnt really what this machine is about.
The 1270 was aimed at the amateur photographer to compete against non-Epson inks which outlast the standard prints. Lifespan was expected to be good and if you wanted to print out your digital images you could, BUT!!
All wasnt what was being told, the ink and life expectancy did not pass the test. Epson was claiming that these inks with this printer would be lasting many years indoors. Giving out all results and information on the prints lasting many years indoors it was a big hope.
This never came as the inks were fading within many days.
If you go to this web site it`ll explain more http://www.p-o-v-image.com/epson/ .
The dissapointing factor aswell is if anyone wanted to use non-Epson inks you cannot because the cartridges are protected by a new chip, similar to what HP did. This new cartridge is called "intellicartridge". Stopping us home users having a choice about what inks to use.
This pretty much limited the lifespan of the machine and stopped it becoming a great printer it should have been.
