Epson Stylus Photo 750

Now this printer is not anything special. This was my first ever printer and it did last me a long time, about 8 years infact so it has a good life span, oh and it still works fine now, i just got a new multifunction printer so this current one is now in storage but i can still give a good review. First things first, normal document printing, it is pretty good at this. Its not a super fast printer, infact its not that fast at all, but it does deliver fairly good quality text. I have been using this printer for some time now and although it has been supercedced by newer models I am quite content to stay with it. Text output is sharp and the photo quality is good. I find colours realistic and friends are impressed. This is especially true if you use the right paper but reasonable "draft" type copies can be obtained on ordinary paper. I find the monitor useful especially the indication of how much ink is left. Ink cartridges are easy to load and while Epson brand ones are expensive compatible ones are fine and much cheaper - I use ones from Jessops the photographers. My Epson Stylus Photo 750 has served me faithfully without any breakdown for about a year now. It doesn't, however, wow me with it's abilities. The printer is marketed as a photo printer, and it fulfils that role reasonably well. On the high quality settings the photos are pretty good. However, it is only 'good', not great, and it's performance in all other areas is terrible. It goes at an extremely slow print rate - a maximum of about 2ppm. What a brilliant marketing exercise! Make an attractively priced colour printer with excellent reproduction and then charge a fortune for ink cartridges!! That's my only gripe and now I've got it off my chest. The print quality is absolutely superb, reproducing photo quality prints at the highest resolution on photo quality paper. I really couldn't tell the difference. For normal use I have it set to normal quality with lower resolution. At this setting it is acceptably fast and produces good quality reproduction. This is the best printer of the moment. It is available in a limited millennium edition in silver. The colour print is good and with use on photogrphic paper you cannot tell the difference between a photo and a copy. The setting up is easy and it comes with some good cd roms for printing your own greeting cards as well as photographs.
