I was looking for a colour printer that would live up to the cliche of "prints superior to that available from the developer". The Epson 790 undoubtedly delivers on this, but originally I was disappointed. The reason? In order to print pin-sharp photos, you need the best digital camera you can afford, probably one that has more than 3 million pixels. It's the camera that delivers on the resolution, not the printer. When I worked this out (and forked out £400 on a Fujipix)I was over the moon with the results. I have just recently been given an Epson 790 for my birthday. It was purchased over 4 weeks ago and when I finally tried it, it said the cartridges were empty. I tried alsorts of tricks (having had an Epson for over 5 years), but to no avail. I contact, via the web, their on-line tech support who just said, oh it's either the printer that is faulty or the cartridges (wow, clever), so take it back to where I bought it! I decided to buy a new printer to go with my digital camera, a friend recommended me to the Epsom range, he had an older model with 1400 DPI printing and the photos were good. I decided on the Photo 790 and with an in-law working for a shop selling these I got a discount on it. What a super printer. I got it set up and running in about 10 mins no problems. The print quality is superb, even at A4 size there is no start of gain or pixels showing, the 5-colour cartridge also does a good job with colour matching.
