Great pictures but.... (Epson Stylus Photo 790)
Member Name: uryjm
Advantages: Great Pics, Under £100 Disadvantages: Slow on text, Software bundle poor
I was looking for a colour printer that would live up to the cliche of "prints superior to that available from the developer". The Epson 790 undoubtedly delivers on this, but originally I was disappointed. The reason? In order to print pin-sharp photos, you need the best digital camera you can afford, probably one that has more than 3 million pixels. It's the camera that delivers on the resolution, not the printer. When I worked this out (and forked out £400 on a Fujipix)I was over the moon with the results. I'd find it difficult to imagine why you'd want to spend any more on a colour printer, if quality is all your after. If, however, you'd like speed and quiet (it's a little noisy)then perhaps you should look elsewhere. It is also painfully slow on printing text, although perhaps there's a setting for this that I haven't discovered. Summary: |
