... the difference in print time is staggering. I ordered a new Canon photo printer yesterday and it should be delivered tomorrow. When it arrives my Epson printer is going in the bin. It has constantly been a source of irritation for me. The photo-quality of the prints ARE excellent, but it takes forever to print and I?ve wasted so much ink by constantly having to clean the print heads that I?m ditching this piece of equipment once and for all. It?s headed for the bin where it truly belongs! I now see this printer i...more

Premium Review Epson Stylus Photo 830: Binned it after 7 months! (525 words)
by - written on 28/08/03 (Useful, 907 readings)
Rating:

I bought this printer in January 2003 because I'd recently purchased a new PC with Windows XP. My previous Epson printer had lost some of its functionality with this new operating system and I wanted a brand new printer anyway which had photo-quality capability. I was very impressed with the photo-quality of prints, considering the printer only cost £99. I was not impressed, however, with the CONSTANT need to clean the print heads almost every time I needed to use it. I don?t use this printer every day and maybe a week will go by before I need to use it. Each time I tried to use it I?d get those annoying bands indicating that the print heads were clogged ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Print in style (1320 words)

Rating:

As an avid digital photographer, with an expensive taste in megapixels, I was in desperate need of a new printer. I needed a printer which would really produce stunning A4 sized photographs, suitable for framing, displaying, gifts and even sales. I have had many printers in my time, from a first time 9pin dot matrix, progressing to a mono laser, a colour HP Deskjet, most recently an Epson Stylus 760 and now the Epson 830. My mother already had one of these and said it was pretty impressive, although she hadn't had it for long, and hadn't used it extensively, but I did feel the specs were good and thought this would be a good one to go for. I relayed this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Epson Stylus Photo 830: watch out for printer head problems (301 words)
by - written on 31/03/03 (Useful, 3523 readings)
Rating:

I liked this printer when I bought it. Cheap, excellent photo quality output. A bit noisey but I don't print very much so I wasn't too bothered. Watch out for printer head problems though. I may be just unlucky but after 3 months of light use, mine started to go wrong. I tried head cleaning 6 times, it improved a little but was still too awful to use. (The test page came out stripy and it would even smear black into the other colours). I rang Epson, they said change the cartridges. They said something about the cartridges dry out after 6 months and need to be replaced. Mine was only 3 months old but I did this anyway (I was on the ...  Read the complete review

The Final Photographic Frontier (on a budget)! (1140 words)
by - written on 26/01/03
Rating:

Epson Stylus Photo 830 with Harry Potter CD. Supported OS': Windows95/ME/NT/2000/XP; Mac OS8.1 through to OSX. For a printer in the £80-£90 price range, the Epson Stylus Photo 830 has impressive and immediate visual impact. As if tailor-made to perfectly match my two-tone grey/silver Ikea computer workstation, the silver printer left its box sparkling wildly under the fluorescent light in the study. Once placed on a desk shelf, the only thing missing from the room was a harem of silver-robed Hot Gossip dancers circling the workstation in celebration: "I lost my heart to an Epson printer!"; it seemed an appropriate lyric given the undulating ...  Read the complete review
