Advantages: It prints!, Lots of functions, Good maximum resolution
Disadvantages: Poor print quality, Huge lines through your work, Colour ink smudges
This year, I got a digital camera, and after reading about the Epson Stylus Photo 895, I thought it would be great if I could print my pictures out without having to go to a shop. I was drastically wrong! This printer really is the pits - for £200 you get on your page: * An annoying black smudge on every page. * Often loads of black dots because of printer cartridge blockage/spillage. * Lines through ordinary black and white printing. * Lines through the maximum resolution. * Smudging with the colour ink. Wow!! - not an awful lot which is good there, is there! Ok, heres the good points about the printer, for £200 you get: * It prints! - yes, I know thats a biggie, but it is worth a mention in the Advantages column - nothing else to fill it with. * Its got a good maximum resolution - if the ink didn't smudge it would be great! * Its got a memory card reader - which is pritty cool if the thing printed properly. * It can except rolls, ideal sized photograph printing paper. Now, before you go out and waste your money, let me tell you now - don't. It has got a lot of functions and I'm not denying that - but the print quality is so awful, the functions arn't worth paying for! I have written to Epson several times to complain about the printer, and did recieve a reply a few weeks later, telling me to send some sample prints in. I did so, and have not heard from them since! I also mentioned how I'd cleaned it using the software many times, replaced the cartridges and the same thing still happenned. Conclusion - If you get this printer after reading this, then you are silly - its got lots of functions that do work, but because it can't print properly, I'd go for a different model.

- 27/07/02 I agree with aefra, your machine must be faulty. It looks like they should do something about their customer service. |

- 23/07/02 Thanks for the warning. My first thought was that you had a substandard machine (it happens to the best of them). But if Epson can't put it right.... |
