Epson Stylus Photo EXThe key to the Photo EX's outstanding photo reproduction quality and fast printing speed is EPSON's unique Photo Reproduction Quality technology (PRQ), which brings together a number of advanced EPSON innovations. Collectively these advances are called the EPSON Perfect Picture Imaging System and incorporate: EPSON Micro Piezo technology, industry-leading 1440 dpi resolution, EPSON AcuPhoto Halftoning, Six-color (CcMmYK) QuickDry inks and, EPSON Photo Papers. The six-color ink system adds light cyan and light magenta to the traditional palette of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. This, combined with EPSON's unique technologies dramatically improve highlight rendering when printing photographs and results in natural looking colors, when dealing with the more subtle areas of images such as skin tones. In addition, the EPSON Stylus Photo EX can handle a range of paper sizes from A6 to A3 and panoramic and, supports a variety of media from plain paper to Photo Quality Glossy Film, inkjet transparencies, envelopes and EPSON's new Photo Papers. The new PhotoEnhance 2 function automatically adjusts the contrast, brightness, color saturation and color values - without affecting the original image. A new user-friendly interface features a convenient on-screen status monitor, which provides up-to-the-minute information on the printer's status and ink levels and, minimizes the inconvenience of running out of ink halfway through print jobs. Advanced color correction software is fully compliant with both the Windows 95 ICM and Macintosh ColorSync 2.0 color matching systems and ensures accurate color matching between monitor and printed output. For more advanced color management, users have the control to manually select levels of brightness, contrast, saturation and individual color. The optional RIP (Raster Image Processing) software, StylusRIP, is available for Windows and Macintosh users. It delivers true Adobe PostScript Level 2-color output and Pantone color profiles. By installing the optional StylusRIP software, users can convert the EPSON Stylus Photo EX into a low cost PostScript printer. For in-house design or professional color proofs before going to film, the EPSON Stylus Photo EX delivers top-of-the-line photographic quality at an affordable price. I bought my EX when they first came out, and even now I can hardly believe the quality. The secret with any digi printing is to use the right paper - Epson's own when you are feeling affluent, or Jessop's when time are hard. The EX performs very well with either, but then it would, because it has two vital ingredients to make photographic quality printing a reality. First, it can print to 1440 dpi, and therefore the results will give the illusion of "fine grain", and secondly, it has five rather then the usual three colours. In practice, this means that pale colours and/or tones don't rely on having the white paper ... Read the complete review

the Epson Photo Ex, if ur in the market for a big A3 printer then this is it. Fromt he moment you open the box and pic up this substantial piece of it and it is. You know ur on to something good. Forget the specs they are a white lie here, some other printers have higher dpi's but this doesn't matter. The pics on normal office paper are very good and the picture is very good. And once on some more expensive if slightly more expensive paper the vibrant colours really show up and are very lively, even more so. One armed with real photo paper you will be for a real treat. "IT" is a photo very comparable with the source. Now the limiting ... Read the complete review
