Although it costs more than smaller printers such as the Epson 2400/2880, it may work out cheaper if you print any volume because its larger cartridges represent lower costs per page printing. If you are trying to achieve exhibition quality photographic printing up to a 2+ size in both matte and glossy papers, including Epson's excellent Ultrasmooth Fine Art paper, as well as the Ultra Gloss without any metamerism, then Epson Stylus Pro 3800 is an extraordinarily good printer. It uses the K3 inks (although not the new bright magenta option), which combined with its printing mechanism is an eliminates the problem of printing blacks on high gloss paper. It also automatically recognises your matte or glossy paper choice and changes the cartridge fairly economically, a seriously useful facility.
