I bought this printer to replace an Epson Photo 830 I had had for 7 years hoping for the same reliability and reasonable economy of the 830. I wish I had read some of these reviews earlier as I have experienced exactly the same problems as others. The printer had only printed 4 pages of text before I got an error message saying the black cartridge wasn't recognised and it was the Epson cartridge supplied with the printer! I replaced it with a new Epson cartridge and got the same message again after printing about a dozen sheets of A4! In addition this printer is noisy beyond belief and also very slow indeed --- and I am comparing it to my old Photo 830! Avoid this printer at all costs! I returned it for a refund and bought a Canon Pixma iP2600. So far (after a week) this has performed very well. It is much faster and quieter than the Stylus S20, looks much nicer and the build quality looks good for a cheap printer. Ink consumption seems reasonable so far and Canon do sell high volume cartridges for this printer.

Summary: Noisy, slow and hopelessly unreliable. Should be withdrawn from the market
