Advantages: Good quality printing, A3
Disadvantages: Lousy firmware, terrible feed mechanism
I have had a long running battle with this printer and as a trained press operator and ICT Manager I have come to the conclusion there is a fundamental flaw in the firmware that controls the feed and print mechanism.
My advice to you is to stay clear of this printer and buy an A3 printer from some other manufacturer.
This A3 printer cannot print on card properly and will jam frequently. Not only that, when it jams and is unable to eject the paper you have no option but to gingerly pull out the sheet. After pulling out the sheet the firmware simply makes the printer unusable and will continue printing without feeding any more sheets. In other words the built in software actually allows you to send a print command to the printer and to squirt ink all over the feed rollers and feed mechanism!
This is rubbish.
Otherwise this would be an excellent print solution for the DTP and Graphic Industry requiring a simple domestic proofing press.
+++++
I've just tried a Canon ip2200 purchased recently and this prints the same card perfectly from a tray of 30 sheets. Whilst the HP1220c couldn't even print one sheet from the top tray nor the bottom feed tray!
Summary: Excellent print handling but very poor paper handling
