Advantages: Printing quality is fine, ink cheap
Disadvantages: Mine has broken after lack of use !
HP Deskjet 3650 - Great when it works!
I've had this printer for a few years now, and when new it produced entirely acceptable results for a student / home office set up.
Pages of black and white text were reproduced at an acceptable speed, and even on the draft quality were perfectly read-able. For work that was to be handed in or where better better finish was desired, bumping the quality up to normal was all that was required. The best setting really was somewhat redundant as if the printing was sharper as a result (I couldn't tell the difference) then you would only have to wait longer for each page to arrive.
Photo printing on glossy paper again produced entirely acceptable results, nothing amazing but frame a medium sized photo from a reasonable quality camera and you would have difficulty telling the difference between a traditional film camera.
All sounds fine so far but unfortunately my printer has stopped working! It sat out of use, having run out of ink for some months, and I recently decided it would be useful to get it going again. I ordered a set of new ink cartridges, for a reasonable £24 but have yet to successfully install them.
The printer seems to have locked up, and doesn't do anything when I plug it into my computer. I don't think its likely that I'll get it to work again and the money spent on new cartridges has just been wasted.
In summary, a fine cheap printer when it works but mine has been unreliable and is now a very large desk adornment.
