Advantages: Great Print Quality, Fast Printing, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Expensive Cartridges, No Paralell/USB Cable Supplied
The 3820 is a very good printer. It has an easy installation procedure and you can be printing in minutes. The print speed is excellent it can do a page of text on draft mode in about 2 seconds, 15 seconds in normal print mode and about a minute in best print quality. It has a wide variety of options for different types of paper though if you choose paper other than HP's own you may sometimes find your other options resticted. It has a great ink saving scheme with scroll bars to indicate how much ink you plan on using and how long you wish to wait for it to dry. All of that is done on your computer screen using superb HP technology. The print quality itself is fantastic, the quality of the pictures is great compared to other home printers, there are no visible smear marks like some other printers leave behind. Above that, the style of the printer is great, with a fold away paper tray to prevent dust getting in and grey or blue front panel and buttons. If this is your first printer you will need to buy the USB or Paralell cable seperately but that is all, the printer comes with colour and black ink cartridges and even includes 10 free samples of HP Glossy Photo paper. The 3820 is especially good at envelope printing, some printers are a big nuisance when trying to get them printing on envelopes but the 3820 handles it with ease, you don't even have to tell it that there's an envelope in as it automatically detects paper thickness. The only disadvantage of the 3820 is the cost of replacement cartridges, at £20 for a black cartridge and £24 for a normal colour/ £40 for a high capacity colour you may find it an expensive business, re-inking your 3820. Overall this is a fantastic printer and at a reasonable price. (Except Cartridges!)

- 17/11/03 fairly good op. ink cartridges are so expensive - however, you can now buy remanufactured/original non-brand named cartridges that tend to be cheaper and have the same print quality. |

- 14/10/03 It is annoying that Ink replacement cartridges are so expensive you would think by now the prices would go down. |
