I bet if you've been around computers for a while you know exactly what a "traditional" Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 500 printer looks like. That's right, a big, beige housebrick. They weren't pretty in the old days (just pretty pricey) but got the job done. In the early 90's most people used dot-matrix printers (remember them?) that used to rattle your house windows in operation, but after a while certain companies (notably Canon) began to offer low-cost inkjet printers that were whisper-quiet by comparison. Well, I must say, this printer was reasonably good in it's day. Now.. It is ready to get the boot. The installation of the printer is as easy as it comes. Connect it up to your printer port, config it on your LP port and off you go. So great, we have a good printer here, easy to install, it works, it's clean. So what’s my problem? WELL I SHALL TELL YOU!!! These beast of a contraption eats everything in sight. I mean I can't leave anything within 10yards of the printer for fear of it eating it. I just bought a new printer,the HP 930 and i wish i hadnt have.I thought i had a bargain at £99 but it turned out not to be. We have one in work and i thought as the cartridge was twice the size of my old HP610 and roughly the same price i would be quids in but not to be. I have found that the ink runs out quicker on the Hp930 than the Hp610 so if you are thinking of switching printer beware all that glitters is not gold. I have switched back to my HP610 as i find it cheaper to run so if anyone out there is looking for a HP930 please let me know as i know someone selling one. For a cheap quality printer you really cant beat the Hp610 ... Read the complete review
