Advantages: Quality text, reliable, Good Drivers
Disadvantages: Poor photo printing, parallel connection only
I purchased this printer purely on price. I was looking for a cheap inkjet capable of good quality text and graphics printing. The Deskjet 610c is a two-cartridge system, one tri-colour and one pure black. Access to the cartridges is easy, just lift the lid and the cradle automatically parks for cartridge replacement, shut the lid and it resets for use. On first use, the cartridges need to be aligned. Easy to do, but annoying if you change cartridges regular. Print quality of text is excellent. Crisp and clear black print, without fault. For printing letters etc, this printer is great. However graphics quality is not as good, offering about average quality for everyday colour graphics. The biggest downfall is photographic work. No, it just cannot do it! This printer cannot print photos, not even with the optional photo cartridge. Printing photos with standard colour leaves a seedy image with poor colour matching, using photo colour leaves an equally seedy image but with correct colour matching. This printer performs reliably and is my letter printer. For this purpose it’s great, for graphics its acceptable but for photos, no! Definitely not. Great starter and text printer, but if you want colour photos look for a more expensive one.

- 05/06/01 Welcome to dooyoo! I think most HP printers are great products, and the lower end ones are so cheap I suppose its just too much to expect them to print great photos. |
