Advantages: ok
Disadvantages: can buy better now!
We bought a Hewlett Packard deskjet 710c, when they were new out. For a quite expensive price of £220. It looked good, and it had a good name. So, why not? But, now I feel quite ripped of. I, saw the same printer in the catalogue for £60, which was quite furstrating. Not, only that I am quite disappointed with it's performance. It's not that fast, and takes a minute or so, to print a document, even on economy fast. The other furstrating this is that it hasn't got a cartridge separater, whereby you can print both colour and black and white prints. But, It hasn't gone wrong so I should be happy, and the manual book is quite easy to follow, when I have had to change a cartridge. The cartridges are quite expensive about £28, but they last a fair bit, and print about 100 or so sheets, which is good going.

- 12/04/02 It's unclear what you mean by cartridge separator - cosmicma is right in what (s)he says. And about the 100 page print capactity, i've found the cartridges to last a lot longer, about 6 months on my school and college work (and that's the Light Usage, i.e. cheaper cartridges with less ink in them). My old Canon had much cheaper cartridges, but they also lasted a lot less. |

- 08/03/01 are we talking about a hp deskjet 710 here or a 690 because im not sure what you mean by a crtridge seperator if you mean does it carry the black and white and colour cartridge at the same time well it does. they do have the ability to print black and white and colour at the same time.
i bought one of these when they first came out nearly 2 years ago and paid £140 for it from dabs direct if you paid £220 for it then yea i'd be a bit sad too.
for what they are and the price they are very good i know there dirt cheap now but that's progress for you.
on plain paper there hard to beat apart from the next generation hp's but epson don't come close. |

- 22/11/00 You are lucky not to have had a problem ! I have had experience with 2 different types of HP printer, and both have similar problems. They both have only one paper feeder head, which means that quite often the paper feeds in slightly slanted, and the printer prints at an angle. Not very professional looking for documents. Also, the same rollers can malfunaction when loading colour (photo) paper, and fail to feed it through. My uncle was forced to get a "patch" from HP services, which acted like a brillo pad, roughening up the roller. Al that did was distribute rubber bits into the next few printings, but the problem of the paper feed still stayed ! |
