Advantages: Reliable and Survives The Test Of Time (Just!)
Disadvantages: Loud, Expensive Cartridges
This is probabaly one of the most random reviews I have done, but whilst clearing out my cupboards I found this printer and just for fun typed it Dooyoo and it turned out it was on the Dooyoo database, so I thought why not review it.
This is a very basic printer, but compared to the printer released in this day and age it is not too far different. It is a deskjet printer so made for everyday Home use and not really a printer that you would consider for your office and let me tell you the reasons why:
The first reason is that the cartridges are not value for money. Ideally you need a colour cartridge and a black and white cartridge which comes to around £20 each. They do not last too long although if you are not only use the printer around a couple of times a week you can get a few good months use out of them.
The second reason is that the printer is quite slow. However that is mainly due to it being a printer that is nearly ten years old now. The quality is great on the best settings, however it just can not compete with the modern more efficient printers.
The third reason is that this is a very noisy printer. Personally this does not really bother me to much, as it is just temporary noise and once the printing is done there is silence again. I can see however though how some people may be fussy over this so this is a negative aspect.
An advantage of the printer though is that when purchased it was relatively cheap and especially in this day and age I can imagine right now it would cost less than £20, of course it is no longer in production and therefore no longer available. Many latter more efficient models have come out which address all the negatives that I mentioned above.
Overall though I had many good years service from this printer and can not complain. The negatives at the time were not neccesarily major arguing points. The problem is that electronics are always getting better and better and people will complain when looking back towards older products that can not compete. Take products like the N64. Back in the day everyone thought its graphics were amazing, but now with products like the PS3 and Xbox 360 people would say N64 graphics are rubbish.
The same goes with printers. Of course this does not mean I recommend this printer for purchase at this time as the modern products are cheap, and to track this printer down would cause a lot of money I imagine. In case anyone is interested though you can have mine for £100, I am adding on like around £95 to its value cause it is like an antique now.
Overall though I would say that this printer was reliable and never broke down and was a great decision at the time to opt for a Desket for Hewlett Packard.
