Advantages: Price, Economical on your cartridge
Disadvantages: Noisy
I definitely do rate the Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840C as a very reliable printer. However the major disadvantage is the noise it makes when loading the paper just before it actually prints it and is also very noisy during the actual printing process. Other printers generally are a lot quieter. My computer is in my bedroom and previously when I used to print in the night the noise used to wake up my wife. Thus all my printing is now done during the day. One of the plus points is that once you hit the print button the printing starts almost immediately, even if you just switched on your printer. Whereas with other machines it takes time for the machine to warm up before you can actually print your first page. On average you can get about 2000 Black and White pages from a single Black cartridge so this makes it very economical. I’m not sure how many pages you get from a Colour cartridge as this would depend on the amount of matter on each document you are printing. The clarity is also very good and you have option to either print Economical (saves your ink) or in detail. I have been using this printer since the last five years and have never had any problems with it. I print at least twenty pages daily. I also took this printer with me to Ghana (West Africa) for one year and it has been through all the usual electricity surges, plunges and outages and never once gave me a problem. I’m note sure if they still produce this particular model but I bought mine for PDS150.00 five years ago, which was cheap at the time for this range of printer. I give this a rating of 8 out of 10.
