Advantages: Not too expensive, Quiet, good quality

Disadvantages: none, for the price

About a year a go my printer died. Well, It didn't exactly break, one of the ink nozzles got blocked and was leaving purple lines across everything. It was an Epson. And not that it wasn't a good printer but it's cheaper to replace than repair.

So I went for a HP printer. I had an old 520 years ago (which is still working and in use) and remembered that when you replace the cartridge, you replace the print heads.

So far, the 840c hasn't let me down. The print quality isn't the best but considering it was half the resolution of the Epson, I am impressed. It's relatively cheap, getting the cartridges for around £16-£18 (unless you buy from PC world, it's about £24 each)

It came supplied with a USB cable and all you do is plug it in and it worked (after installing all necessary software). It's quiet, it's reasonably fast for a budget printer and it's reliable.

One feature that caught my attention in particular was the way it turns itself on when you print something.

There are cheaper printers out there but all I can say is that if you want something reliable and not too expensive, give it a try.

I've got a Deskjet 670c which is still going strong, and well, after about 5 years. Will probably have to look into a new printer in the near future though ...

I've got a 940c, and it's done very well (though the colour ink cartridge seems to run out very fast; certainly much faster than my old Epson's did).

Very good review, incidentally. Though I don't agree with a certain poster below that waffle is (necessarily) a bad thing!
