Advantages: it does exactly what it says on the tin
Disadvantages: gibberish
This printer ain't too bad really. It fits neatly on the bottom shelf of my workstation desk and print quality is fine - good colours and it doesn't take ages to print things. I've not had to change cartriges yet and I've had it a few months now. The guy in PC world said its a bit heavy on the black cartridge though, so we'll see I guess. The only snag so far is if you try and print when its run out of paper - maybe its something I not set up right - but it just goes into a big huff then spews out reams of gibberish. So I just make sure its stuffed full of paper. It looks quite nice too (for a printer).

- 20/10/00 so in other words its not too bad if you don't want to print loads and loads? |

- 16/10/00 The basic chassis for these printers is common to the 710, 720, 880, 895 etc. but the difference is that HP have redesigned the ink cartridges for the 840, so that they hold half as much ink! This is to offset the reduction in profit from the printer, I imagine, but it puts me off recommending to people, as the 900-series printers have large capacity cartridges that cost about the same. Shame, really, as the 840 is otherwise an excellent printer. |
