The black cartridge only lasted me around 750 pages, mostly in draft mode. - Advantages: Good print quality, Cheap to buy, Flat topped, so can balance things on top of easily - Disadvantages: Photo Quality? Just don't look to close

I definitely do rate the Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840C as a very reliable printer.
