Advantages: Reasonaby Cheep, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Price of Cartridges
The HP Deskjet 895Cxi is a great little printer. I have one of these printers on my desk at work, it is absolutely ideal for my printing needs.
For those of you who like the techie stuff, this printer had 2Mb ram, does 11 pages per minute when printing black and 8.5 page per minute when printing colour, it prints at 600dpi.
It uses two cartridges, one for the black ink and one tri colour cartridge. This system produces good results, but it does have its drawbacks, if you are doing a lot of printing in one particular colour it could run out, you still have ink left in the cartridge but you do not get the colour you want. There are printers available with three colour cartridges you would be paying a lot more.
You can use a wide variety of paper, 1 usually use 80gsm (Standard Paper) but I sometimes use 200gsm (Card) if I want something to last, I also feed envelopes and laser labels through it, again no problems it takes it all in its stride. I sometimes have to print pictures or detailed graphics and they always look very good. If I need stunning results then I use the photo quality paper and it produces pictures that look good enough to have come from a camera, but this paper is very expensive, normally about 50p a sheet.
The cartridges are a little expensive, but if you shop around you will be amazed at the difference in the prices out there.
This printer has the standard parallel port connection, but it also has a USB connection this is very good if you are using Windows 98.
The HP Website www.hp.com is another plus. If you have never been there go and take a look, you can go to the product support section, choose your printer and it will have on line user manuals, trouble shooting tips, details on accessories available for your printer and downloads that are available so you can make sure you are using the latest drivers.
