HP Deskjet 930c

Hewllet Packard is well respected in the computer community and probably one of the best, or should I say, most highly respected brand of printers. Why? Probably due to the quality of their printers and the fact that they seem to go on and on and don’t give you too much hassle. Oh they had a few problems with the HP 500 series etc but when it came to the 560, then the very widely used 640 HP were getting their name around and now, most companies that I know use HP printers. This is the first time I’ve had HP printer at home although I’ve used them frequently at work. I bought the HP Deskjet 930C as a replacement for my broken Epson after having a word with our IT manager who suggested that this model provided very good print quality at the decent price of around £100. I also checked out a couple of the other Dooyoo reviews which seemed OK. Okay, to start with I work in the computer trade, so I see products come and go. At work we do lots of point of sale displays, which are usually A4 sized with a large colourful header and some bullet points in large black text. I can without hesitation recommend the Hewlett Packard 930c for its excellent print quality and speed. the documents are printed directly from Photoshop 5 and the results on cheap copier paper are fantastic. But for a real test I printed out a picture of my baby son (for testing purposes, honestly!). I paid £150 for my Hewlett Packard 930c in September 2000 when the model was new. Since then I've seen them priced as low as £70 in the Viking Direct sales catalogues, great value for money for the printer itself. The quality of the printed material is excellent if I use the correct cartridges. I have tried refill kits and compatible cartridges but the quality isn't quite as good. They are adequate for most things but not for master copies that go on to be photo copied or printed. Refill kits for the coloured cartridges were a disaster, my printer won't work using them. I used to have a HP 660c but as it couldn’t hack colour pictures anymore I decided to buy a new printer. After looking around I bought a HP 930C It cost £90 and came with a installation CD, 1 black and colour cartridges (both large) and 5 sheets of photo glossy paper. The installation was a breeze, just insert the CD run through the step by step instructions, connect the printer and install print cartridges. I was even able to set-up the printer so my networked PC could use it as well and that didn’t require the CD to do.
