Advantages: Excellent print quality, well priced , very quiet

Disadvantages: None

This is the first time I’ve had HP printer at home although I’ve used them frequently at work. I bought the HP Deskjet 930C as a replacement for my broken Epson after having a word with our IT manager who suggested that this model provided very good print quality at the decent price of around £100. I also checked out a couple of the other Dooyoo reviews which seemed OK.

The footprint is an average size for an A4 printer and setting it up is very straightforward:-

Connect the power and parallel cables.

Insert the 2 supplied catridges into the printer.

Install the driver from the CD by following the on screen instructions.

Sit back and wait for a couple of minutes for the confirmation test page to print.

Print quality is very good with 3 settings ranging from draft to best. Best is an excellent 2,400 x 1,200 dpi and is outstanding on photo paper. The middle setting of normal provides perfectly acceptable quality for the majority of prints although I usually select the draft mode for things like text and letters as this is still a very high standard. There are various other options to improve the quality of the print such as making them lighter/darker and it can also be configured to print banners and posters as well.

The 930C is very quiet during printing which certainly makes a change from my previous printer and replacement catridges are typically priced at around £20 for colour and slightly cheaper for black. The software supplied by HP provides a comprehensive range of options including different paper sizes and types and even support for two sided printing.

Although I’ve not had this printer for very long, my first impressions have been very good. For less than £100 you get quality printing and a very quiet machine which makes it ideal for home or office use where a loud printer can be particularly annoying. It is easily set up, comes with both a standard and an electro
nic manual and is backed by HP’s online support.

As a bonus, also included in the box is a fully working version of the Europe route planner which includes maps and a distance calculator.

At this price and this quality I would definately recommend this printer as a good buy.

Good Op. I bought mine yesterday so it's not had a proper test drive yet. Thought I might connect it via USB and see if it performs any quicker
