After my previous HP bit the dust (children's intervention and nothing wrong with HP's build quality - two year old's can do a lot of damage!!), I headed out to update it. Previous experience of HP's reliability meant that I was happy to purchase again. The 930C seemed to offer everything I needed at a good price.
Setting up was a doddle - connect the printer, put the disk into the PC and follow the instructions. It took less than ten minutes to unpack and get it printing.
The 930C takes up very little space and offers a fairly impressive performance - up to 9 pages per minute for black text and 7.5 pages if colour is involved. The software is apparantly compatible with versions of Windows from 3.1 up to Me (plus NT 4.0), although we are using 98 and can only vouch for that. The quality of printing is high, and the HP PhotoREt spec gives amazingly good results - particularly on the glossy photo quality paper that came as a sample with our machine. One highly useful feature is a 'print cancel' button on the machine - for those annoying times when you suddenly realise that you've asked for all 30 pages of the document and not just page 30. Our machine came packaged with Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe PhotoDeluxe which made it very good value indeed. The only real downside to an HP printer is the cost of the replacement ink cartridges, but all in all, this is an excellent printer which should meet most home printing needs.
