I bought this printer back in November 2001 to go with the new computer I was building. I run Windows XP, so I downloaded the latest web update drivers for the unit and installed them. The installation program guides you through the entire physical installation, and tests the printer to make sure it's working. The instructions seem completely idiot-proof, which is always a bonus!
I started out by using the parallel interface, but later moved to USB and enjoyed a corresponding speed increase. That's not to say that it was slow on parallel, but it positively flies on USB!
The print quality is outstanding, and the unit is extremely fast. The only incident I had which required me to contact technical support was when the printer started loading and ejecting a sheet of paper every time the computer was switched on, but the prompt, efficient, helpful tech support staff soon had it pinned down to an issue with the Winbond I/O controller on the motherboard which a change to USB fixed.
Overall, an exceptional product for an amazing price!
