Advantages: Talk about speed and quality.
Disadvantages: None dude, none.
If there were a counter intelligence academy for inkjetsc then this would have graduated at the top of the class for its ability to strike swiftly and silently. It quietly disgorges pages at an incredible rate and, thanks to the high, curved lid, even manages to look smug as it does so. Any hum of activity from the well-greased mechanism is drowned out by the silky swish of printhead on paper. Short of fitting a silencer to the paper tray it seems inconceiveable that inkjets will ever get quieter than this. Thanks to the USB connection and a simple tank replacement system, its also very easy to set up straight out of the box. It would have been nice to have seen separate tanks for the colour cartridge but this is only a minor personal quibble and the robust front loading paper tray, with a separate tray for 6 x 4 inch glossy photo paper, more than makes up for it. But on to the all-important question of performance, and it cannot be stressed too strongly how far inkjets like this have come in the last year or so. If you're feeling disgruntled with a noisy, slow or messy printer that you bought or got bundled in the late 90's, here are two words for you, UPGRADE NOW! Even budget printers are fast and accurate, but the 950C has a quality that reflects the price. Standard Word documents are printed at a rate unnervingly close to the manufacturers claim of 11 pages per minute and are as sharp as any from a laser printer readable down to 2pt size. Graphics, too, are handled at a fair rate of knots, and while not the very best of this class of printers are good enough not to disappoint. On glossy paper, though, this printer performs far better than average. A maximum resolution of 2,400 x 1,200 is combined with a proprietary layering technique to achieve images which will make you look twice before you can see the ink spots. That's good enough for me!!!
