I bought this as a stop gap until I could replace my old HP 1280. Worst decision I could have made. Print quality is ok but on anything more than a few pages or with pictures, the printer stops functioning and the only way to get things going again is to re-boot the whole computer. It is going back to PC World today. The software that came with it screwed up my scanner and worst of all, put a Bing toolbar on my browser page. Read the masses of correspondence on the subject on the net. Really difficult to get rid of. It used to be that manufacturers sold printers cheap to tie you in to buying expensive cartridges. Now it just seems HP are part of the battle between Microsoft and Goolge search engines
This printer is excellent value for money, at around £35, and unlike some cheap printers, the ink cartridges won't break the bank either, coming in at around £20 each, and lasting a good amount of time. I wouldn't advise buying cheaper ones off sites like ebay though, as these may seem like a bargain, but last less than half the time. It is easy to order cartridges direct from hp as when you set up the printer it adds an icon to your desktop which takes you straight to the right part of the hp store. The printer takes standard black and tricolour cartridges, and they are easy to install, with helpful easy to follow picture instructions on the inside of the machine.
The printer is small, which is a real bonus if you are struggling for space, helped by the fact that the paper goes in and out from the front. I have very few paper jams, although there is the occasional hiccup, but I have never owned a printer that didn't have the occasional temperamental period! The machine also looks good.
One of the real benefits of this product as far as I am concerned is the different print quality settings that you can apply. You have the option of printing in black and white or colour, in best quality or in draft, which saves the ink but is still of very decent standard. The machine prints quickly anyway, but there is also a 'fast' mode, which is super speedy, an excellent feature. I really can't fault this product, it is a very good value, quality item.
The HP deskjet D2660 inkjet printer "does what it says on the can". A low cost basic printer of surprisingly good value and quality. It has a front loading tray for the paper and the printed article is also fed out at the front, resulting in a fairly compact unit. The HP D2660 takes the 300 standard black and tricolour cartridges and also the 300XL cartridges which give you more printed pages per cartridge, useful if you are going to do a lot of printing. Otherwise its probably a false economy to purchase the bigger ones, since the ink can dry out before you manage to use it all. The printing of documents is good , speedy and clear. Photographs also print quickly and even using plain paper instead of photographic glossy paper the quality is good enough for "the average man in the street". All in all this is a good choice of printer for occasional photograph printing and normal home use.
