I have now had my HP Photosmart 385 printer for about 3 years and it still prints like a brand new machine, i am so impressed with it that i thought i should write a review.
Packaging : The printer comes in a box of about 12" x 8" deep and about 10" high so is easily portable.
The contents or the box are HP Photosmart 385 printer.
HP 343 Tri-colour Inkjet print catridge, (7ml).
HP bt400 Bluetooth Wireless Adaptor.
Power module with cord.
10 x 15 cm photo media sampler.
Index card kit.
CD-ROM with HP Image Zone Photo and imaging software for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh including HP Instant Share software.
Printer: The printer itself is very light-weight, weighing in at less than 3lbs, and measures 22cm in length, 11.5cm in height and is 11.6cm deep. There is a viewer on the top of the printer which allows the user to 'create' photos of their choice. There are 5 different memory card slots to cater for various sizes of memory card and a USB port for a photo printer adaptor to allow prints via Bluetooth direct from your phone or camera. There are different function buttons on the top to allow for 'creating' you different images. Behind the image viewer at the back of the printer there is a flip-open back that takes up to 20 sheets of printing papers and a flip-open front to 'catch' the printed papers. Also on the front of the printer is another little compartment in which the printer inks are inserted.
Inks: The printer takes HP Photosmart 343 Tri-colour Inkjet print cartridge for 7mls of inks or the 344 cartridge for 14mls of inks, and they cost around £13.00 and £24.00 respectively from Ebay or Amazon.
Photo Papers: The photo papers are entirely your own choice and can be obtained from various different outlets. Obviously the quality of your photos will vary according to the quality of the papers so it pays to shop around to find the best for you.
Printing Options: This printer will give you such a wide variety of prints the papers come in 6 x 4 option but the printer will allow various sizes from 6 x 4 as a whole or passport size option, or panoramic views by printing without the borders. Portrait photos can be greatly improved by the red-eye reduction feature which kicks in automatically with every print. If you wish to have photos with borders there are different choices of borders or frames available, you can crop images to your specific requirements and can even zoom into a particular part of an image to print that part alone.
Cost: As i purchased this printer a few years ago i cannot now comment of the price of it today, however i have seen it advertised recently on Amazon for around £25.00 which is excellent value considering its capabilities.
Conclusion: This is an excellent little printer that is adaptable and very portable. It is ideal to take with you to parties, family occasions or even on holiday, for instant prints and memories. I have had this for about 3 years and have never had a single problem with it the papers and inks are easily obtainable and it saves me a lot of time and effort going to photographic printers, Boots or Asda or anywhere else they provide photos. It is also cheaper to print your own and the results are just as good as having the professionals do the job. The photos i printed 3 years ago look just as clear as they would had i just printed them today the colours stay true for many years. It is a photo printer that i would highly recommend with any hesitation in fact i have bought one as a gift for my daughter who is also thrilled with it.
