      Good for the home office

I bought the HP Photosmart D7163, as my previous printer began chewing up important documents.

This particular model prints pages up to A4 in size, and is quoted at having an output of up to 31 colour pages per minute. The printer uses 5 small individual colour inks and a larger black cartridge - these are listed as the HP 363 Vivera inks.

This particular model is economical, with the black lasting a long time. Individual HP replacement cartridges can be bought for around £7, and third-party ones for a fraction of the price.

The print quality is excellent, especially when using HP's own premium photo paper - colour representation is very good, and if you use the top of the range photo paper, you can achieve many years of fade resistant prints.

The printer features a photo tray, for loading smaller sheets of photographic paper, and a card reader for printing straight from camera cards.

The print speed is fairly quick, but every so often the printer will pause to perform what it calls a 'printer preparation' which takes around a minute to complete.

I would recommend the D7163 for its high quality photo printing, and good value for money.
