This I think was my 5th or 6th printer and was recommended to me by a friend who has been using the same one for a year. I made this purchase and quickly try to install the drivers etc onto my Mac. Installation wasn't easy for me and I have no idea why the Mac wouldn't at first detect the printer. In the end my husband had to intervene and got it going after 2 long hours of faffing about & pulling my hair out. Forget ringing the helpline too, this proven NOT to be helpful. This is why I always dread installing printers - always a conflict somewhere.
So it's a scanner and copier that handles upto A4 pagesand comes bundled with a Photosmart utility, I've never used this as I use Photoshop for all my editing needs. It comes with all the cables that you'll need to get up and running.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX:
Instructions, 2 meter IEEE 1284C cable, black and colour cartridges, mains adapter, all the software that you need to get started on a CD ROM
Easy to operate and includes it's own editor, can easily convert text with the use of an integrated OCR program.
Pretty quick, great quality and vibrant colours, crips text, if you're using the correct paper.
Ink is predicatably expensive but you get quite a few pages out of each one. Black does 415 pages and the colour can print upto 445 pages. My black always runs out first shortly followed by the colour one. Although they do last for approx. 6 - 8 months. I think that this is the best consumption that I've ever experienced for a printer in the last 21 years.
Don't bother printing out all your photo's with this printer. Yes it's good quality BUT it's also cheaper to take the pictures down to your local supermarket to get printed.
The HP C215 is a pretty good printer. it has all the options you need like built in scanner, Lcd screen oh and a printer.
The print speed is pretty good. we have it set up in the other so by the time we have hit print and got up and walked to the printer it is finished the page. EXCEPT when you turn it on which seems to take an age! it has to check all the ink cartridges and check the paper and more. because of this i just don't turn it off.
The other main selling point of this is its built in scanner which we use all the time as everything is now email rather than fax so one must be able to scan and email sheets. the flat scanning area is large so you can scan pretty much everything and the lid can actually come off so you can scan anything even if it is really tall.
The only problem with it (much like every printer now) is that the ink is very expensive, especially the colour. this means that if we are printing out photos from holidays we go to a kodak and have them print them out.
