Intro.
*******
I had this printer along with my computer as a package buy. When I first received it, I thought it was an amazing printer, it also came with various software including a Mulan Disney package which my sister was more than pleased about.

My Feelings.
*************
As the time has gone on, I have gradually began to despise this printer in a way that I can’t explain but I will try to explain. This printer was a nice design and was quite a good printer at the time we had it, it was very modern looking and the print-out seemed of good quality but as time has gone on, this printer as well as PC in general have become out-dated in a very fast time!

Comparison
************
The DPI (Dots Per Inch) of this printer is 600x600 and was good when it first came out. Now though, there are printers of a much better quality at the same price. When we had the printer, it was around the £100 mark which I myself thought was quite expensive for a printer and if I was to buy a new printer now, I would definitely obtain one which is faster and has a greater dpi. Take the Epson 680 for example, this printer I have recently seen in Makro for a bargain price of £64 including VAT which is an absolute bargain considering that it is much faster (about 6 pages per minute) and has at least double the dpi!

Problems
*********
As well as these waning specifications, this printer has caused many problems. We had given up with our scanner because the printer interferes with the scanner as it tends not to respond and only today the printer went AWOL and a ‘spool’ occurred. This meant that the computer basically would not respond unless the computer is restarted. Also it has become common practise when using our printer to first print out a page and cancel it before the printer actually decides to respond and print out our desired documents or pictures. This printer has caused more problems than I have caused my p
arents and believe me, that is saying something!

Other Issues.
**************
As well as the problems and specifications that this printer carries, it also has one of the most expensive ink cartridges I have seen! The colour cartridge on average costs about £30 and the black costs £25. Now this may not sound a lot to some of you but to a family with five kids and hardly any money coming into the home, this is very expensive! Recently as a way to ‘cut costs’ we have resorted to refilling the cartridges, although it saves money, at the same time, this is a messy method and the cartridge is also prone to leak and also the colour quality is a lot worse.

Conclusion.
************
There is no doubt that this printer is a total waste of time and even if it is a good price now, I would still recommend you buy a better spec printer as it will be better off in the long run! I myself have been tirelessly attempting to persuade my parents to part with this piece of junk and get a better model such as the Epson 680 but as money is a problem, it is not an issue. I suppose I’ll stick with this one for the time being and I would strongly recommend you look somewhere else for a printer.

Its a shame weve both been held back in life by owning a 1100 which has caused me weeks of frustration! I think the stress of this printer has taken 5 years off my life and Lexmark will soon be paying for my conselling sessions!!! (joke lol)

That was an excellent review of what sounds like rather a poor printer!
