This is my first printer that I have ever bought. and still today it is working exceptionally well. When I first bought it I thought it would be quite large. But upon unboxing it, it wasn't that big, I placed it next to my computer desk and it didn't take up that much space. Inside the box it contained a usb cable, a back tray to support the paper, it also contained some documents and a CD which has the drivers and software for the printer. One of the documents was about how to set it up and the other was about some promotion. Anyways I did what most male's would do and that was to ignore the manual and just dive into setting it up. The procedure took no longer than 20 minutes, some of the time I spent trying to place the ink cartridge in the small tray holder underneath the scanner and the rest was trying to put on the back tray for the paper. Apart from that it was a quick setup, the usb cable was perfect length to reach the usb port. The CD installation took around a minute or so to install (depending on your computer performance). Once I had the software installed I then proceeded to set up my printing preferences. The software is very nice and easy to use. It has a nice easy layout which helps you to find the option that you want. The software has both printing and scanning options, in which you can setup the printing quality, the size of the paper ect. For the scanning you can setup the scanning quality, the document size etc. The scanner is great. It can be a bit noisy when scanning documents. But it doesn't take too long to scan documents and the scanned document always ends up looking great. The printer only needs one ink cartridge. Which is brilliant as I don't have to spend time trying to find the individual ink cartridges. The ink cartridge lasts for quite awhile. This mostly depends on the amount that you print. For me I probably printed around 100 - 200 pages a month. I would find myself needing to replace the cartridge every 2 and a half months or so. Inserting the ink cartridge is really easy, you just need to lift up the scanner platform, the printer will then automatically move the ink cartridge tray to the center, you then just lift up the hatch replace the ink cartridge, close the hatch and volia you have inserted a new ink cartridge. At first I used to order my ink cartridges online as I found it was cheaper than the ones in my local supermarket, the reason for this is that the ones that i was purchasing were not generic. After a while I would notice that the ink would deplete at a quick rate and the printing quality was bad, you were unable to read the text in most documents, and I found it would finish in around three weeks. So I went to my local supermarket and bought the generic ink which costs £20. The generic ink lasted for around two months and the printing quality was a huge improvement from the previous ink cartridge, which is a huge improvement from the previous one. The way to notice if the ink cartridge is generic is when unboxing the ink cartridge it should be placed in a foil bag, if it is not then it is not generic. Advantages Cheap Easy to set up Software is user friendly Ink cartridge is reasonably priced Image and document quality is great cons Placing paper in the back tray can be a bit of a task as you need to get the angle of the paper right Overall this is a great printer, it is reliable, easy to setup, ink cartridge is fair priced, no need to buy individual colours and I have not had any issues with it, apart from inserting the paper, everything else is great, im glad that I purchased this printer, I love it too bits.
My parents got this printer a few years ago, so it fell to me to set it up. ---Installation--- Setting it up and installing the cartridge was simple. As you may have guessed by the name of the cartridge there is only the one to install. ---Printing--- The printing quality is amazingly good and the speed is excellent too, it makes my old printer look like a joke. Very good for printing both photos and text. ---Multifunctionality--- As well as printing it also serves as a very good quality scanner at the touch of a button. It can even be used as a standalone photocopier when the computer is switched off, this function comes in very handy more often that you would think! ---Cartridges--- For some this is an upside and for some a downer, there is only the one cartridge to replace so its very easy, but compared to other printers the cartridges are pretty expensive- around 15-25 quid a chuck if I remember. And as they are an all in one cartridge even if you just print black stuff and no colour you will still need to replace the whole thing. ---Verdict--- This printer is great for someone who doesnt use it too regularly so wont be worried about the cartridge cost, its easy to use and great quality.
We have 2 Lexmark X2350 all in one inkjet printer and scanner units at home as they came as part of a package with some laptops purchased a couple of years ago. Both units have been used quite reguarly and still perform aswell now as when first purchased. It was a quick process to install the printer, simply plug in the power and usb lead and insert the driver disc, the installation wizard automatically starts up and the drivers and application are installed within a minute or two. The unit has a white and grey sleek design which is basic but has a professional feel about it, it can print up to 12 pages per minute in either colour or black and has a maximum DPI of 4800x1200 in colour and 1200x1200 in black. The Lexmark software is pretty straight forward to use, you can perform cartridge alignment, print test pages, start scans and print from files within a couple of clicks. It is also possible to scan or duplicate an image by the click of a button on the top of the device. The original ink cartridges are around £20 for each the colour and the black so costing £40 every time both cartridges run out, however duplicate cartridges can be purchased online for around £20 for the pair however quality is affected when using cheaper produced cartridges. Also another negative along with the price is if you replace a cartridge and the other runs out you must then buy another as it will not print with just colour or just black which doesn't make sense really! Generally quite satisfied with this product and would recommend as a budget printer for initial costs but can be long term costly with the replacement of ink!
The Lexmark 2350 is a great all in one for those who do occasional printing and want a single device for printing, scanning and copying. The setup and installation is novice friendly, and once installed it is very low maintenance. If you are looking for an inexpensive all-in-one device, for occasional use, then this will fit the bill. Printing - Printing is new user friendly and the print settings page is very easy to follow, giving you simplified options for the qualify, paper type, paper size etc. Once it starts however, you get an annoying and completely unnessessary voice that tells you that printing has started! Scanning - This can be achieved easily by using the all-in-one centre software, or the one touch button. The scanning quality is excellent, thought its a bit slow. Copying - photocopying is achieved by placing the page to be copied on the scanner bed and pressing the photocopy button. This works quite quickly and in full colour The problems arise when you want to use the printer for more than occasional use: The voice gets annoying(though it can be disabled) The cartridges are exepensive Every Time you install a new cartridge you have to align the cartridge I had a problem reinstalling on windows 7( it wouldnt reinstall)
