Advantages: Good Quality.
Disadvantages: Very slow, nothing special.
Okay, the title says what how I mainly feel about this printer. It says on the box that it prints 6 pieces of paper a minute (in black ink). Well, that's the biggest pile of bullcrap I've ever heard. When I first used this printer, I had about 3 pages to print, in plain, black ink. Well over 5 minutes later, it had finally printed it all out. I was slightly annoyed. A few days later I had about 7 pages to print out. I waited 15 minutes for all of it to print out!! I mean, my 3-year old Epson which I used to own is faster than that!! Okay, so there are some good points. The quality is excellent, especially in colour. But when you're printing out 7 pages of writing in plain, black ink, that doesn't really matter!! There's actually not that much to say about it!! It's about medium size, of light grey/whitish colour, and there's nothing exciting about it. What I can talk about is the company who made the printer, Lexmark. They are quite a young company, and haven't been in the business for that long. They're up and coming, and the quality of the printers made is usually quite good. I mean, I'me going to give this printer 3 stars out of 5, as the final quality is good. But the Z12 is their newest model, surely they can come up with something a little faster than this!! This printer is good if you like drawing on here, or using ClipArt quite a lot, but if you mostly do writing on your computer, then this isn't for you. The Z12 overall is an average printer. It has it's good sides, and it has it's bad sides. There are many more printers better than this, and I'd defintely recommend an Epson Stylus, from their 440 to 880 range.

- 31/01/03 The Lexmark Z12 can be a bit slow if you don't "mess" around with it a bit. Still, 6 words a minute is a clear exhageration. If indeed it took 15 minutes to print 7 "ordinary" pages, then it might have an internal problem. Also, as someone pointed out, Lexmark isn't necessarily "new" on the market. |

- 14/03/01 Well, they're up and coming, but perhaps Epson had a better start!! |
