      Exotic Mouse Mat

Let's be honest, mouse mats are often rather items dull items which have little thought put into their aesthetic. However, the 'MouseRug' brings a taste of the east to your desktop... a magic carpet-esque little number that is great when you want to spice up your working environment. Costing £17.99 from amazon.co.uk and measuring 7 x 10.25 inches, the MouseRug not only features an intricate design, but also a rug-like white cotton fringe at either end.

      A Question of Accuracy

At this stage of the review, it should be pointed out that dooyoo's 'Coaster Rug' heading is incorrect - the Coaster Rug is a much smaller item which is made by the MouseRug company - the confusion has arisen because of Amazon's listing which is similarly wrong.

      Design & Appearance

The MouseRug's pattern apparently shares a design with the rug that Sigmund Freud used to cover his psycho-analysis couch - and for that reason, this particular MouseRug is entitled the 'Freud MouseRug'. In terms of its quality, the MouseRug is a well made item - constructed with a dyed nylon fiber coating process, the product is cleverly printed without ink. It's said that the product's quality is similar to that of a high-wear carpet, and there's certainly been no sign of wear on the one that i've owned for the last few years.

      Using the MouseRug

On the MouseRug's underside is a natural rubber backing which allows the product to grip the desk without slipping around. In my experience, both ball and infa-red mice glide across its upper surface with ease, and the thickness of the material means that it is comfortable to rest your wrist on. I actually spilled most of a cup of coffee on my MouseRug, and the resultant stain was easily removed with a bit of Vanish and water - my advice would be to treat the MouseRug as you would a real rug.

      Final Word
      - - - - - - -
The MouseRug Freud is undeniably a well made and classy novelty item which replicates a historically important piece of fabric - the question is, do you really want to spend nearly £18 on a mouse mat?
