Advantages: They're not immediately available to see in person, saving yourself a murder rap.

Disadvantages: Rude, Misrepresentative. Unintelligible. Crooks.

Well, I must say, I wish I'd have seen this website BEFORE I bought Axa Car Insurance. Recently- just last week in fact I had the misfortune to be involved in a car accident and yep, you guessed it....I have Axa Motor Insurance.

All was well until I had the audacity to ask for the courtesy car that I stipulated on my insurance policy. The telephone operator at Axa (which was just barely understandable since it's a call centre in India I assume) assured me that when the "approved" garage called me that they would arrange this. Fine, I waited for the "approved" garage to phone me.

They can see my car next week to assess the damage. But they cannot book it in for repair for at least 3 weeks. I say that'll be fine, I'll pick my courtesy car up next week when you inspect my car. No, they reply, the courtesy car only is paid for when the car is actually in for repairs....in at least three weeks.

I call Axa back thinking I can sort this out. Obviously this "approved" dealer is very busy and they can find me another "approved garage that can fix my car in a more reasonable length of time. This question seemed to irritate the telephonist. She kept babbling on about "the courtesy car is subject to availability" to which I replied "yes, I know. It's available. What's the problem?" To which she kept parroting on about the availability completely ignoring my suggestion that they fins another "approved" garage.

At this point I hadn't started losing my temper. Silly me, I thought I'd just happened to get a new person or a complete idiot. After 20 minutes of verbal volleying where she kept going on about availability, I gave up and asked for a call from the supervisor.

Who was horribly rude and only moderately more fluent at the English language. And as he explained it- here's the deal.

My policy was comprehensive. I specifically asked that it be written into it that I have a courtesy car if my car was incapacitated. That's not good enough, if I wanted a policy where I *immediately* got a courtesy car I had to *specifically* ask for it when taking out the policy.

Which to my surprise was not what I did when I *specifically* asked for it. All I kept thinking was maybe I had to ask for it in Pig Latin or Yiddish for it to count? And the reason that they can't find another garage? Well, it's their policy to have the car inspected and have the findings faxed to their office where they sit on it for several weeks before making a decision- so anywhere they sent it would take at least three weeks.

So, apparently I'm out of a courtesy car. Which I'd been paying for in my premiums. It'd have been cheaper not to get the extra cover and just pay the additional £10 a day for the car I will obviously need to rent next week.

Axa are;

1. unintelligible on the telephone
2. rude and aggressive to customers
3. misrepresent themselves
4. make it VERY difficult to get a straight answer

Please save yourself the trouble and do NOT under ANY circumstances use them as your insurers. They're crooks, plain and simple.

Summary: Complete and utter moronic crooks.
