No Churchill for me (Churchill Insurance)

Advantages: sounds like a good service

Disadvantages: stupid rules, no flexibility

During a recent hunt for a new car insurance I decided to ring Churchill. Their TV ads promised a lot and sounded really good and they had an 0800 number so what did i have to lose? The person i talkied ot was very nice and eager to help. He took all the relevant details about the vehicle and my partner who owns it. Then he started asking for my detail. It all went OK until he reached the question on occupation and I replied "research student". At that point he informed me that I could not be insured by Churchill because they do not insure students. It does not matter that I am not an 18 old undergraduate that is perhaps more likely to drink-drive, it does not matter that I am 28 years old and have a perfectly clean driving record or that beside being a PhD student I am also a member of staff at the university and a lecturer. Apparently for Churchill a student is a student, at 18 or at 60 and students are out.
