Advantages: competitive, easy to make a claim

Disadvantages: pay interest if you pay monthly

My contents and buildings insurance have been through Direct Line for the last five years and I really can't rate them enough.

It was really easy to start the policies as it was all done over the phone. They then send you the policy through the post which you just sing and return, and also a booklet which explains exactly what you are covered for and what you are not. The biggest downside with Direct Line has to be the fact that if you want to pay monthly, then they charge you interest. Putting this aside though, the prices do seem reasonable.

I had only been insured for a couple of months when my flat roof gave up th ghost and destroyed everything in it's wake! Direct Line were brilliant and helped us every step of the way to make the caim quick and easy. I have made a couple of smaller cliams since then, and it was no trouble. You ring up and give them the details and, if it's a straight forward claim, you will get the cheque in a couple of weeks.
