I have been with the halifax for 3 years now and haven't had to make a claim thank god Fingers Crossed
I only have contents with them and no Buildings insurance Price for the contents is £11.50 per month which is not bad for Contents Personal belonging and Mobile phone cover.
Halifax home insurance is very good Full replacement for contents insurance High Risk Items Std £7.5k with a single item limit of £1.5k which covers things like audio video and computer equiptment jewellery etc Basically anything a burglar would go for first. you can Choose different TOTAL limit but i didn't need to change this also standard contents cover Accidental damage to audio Video and Computers as Standard so you don't have to have extra Accidental damage cover to replace your TV if damaged by falling on the floor etc. I also have Personal belonging which covers things outside the home for loss theft and accidental damage so if i had my laptop stolen from me i would be covered for the replacement new for old upto £1000.00 which is more than enough. Mobile phone cover also covers me for my mobile upto £500.00 but this only excludes damage caused by liquid Which most companies do now anywhy.
There is optional extra cover also like Accidental Damage Cover Matching of Items Cover Credit card Cover which you have to pay and extra premium to buy.
Overall I do recommend Halifax Home Insurance Any day the only downside is when you have a leak from a pipe etc you have to pay an additional excess of £250.00 plus your std excess
Last month my house and contents insurance came up for renewal. So I took the hard task of hunting for the best ? and I?m glad I did. I decided we wanted the full cover, buildings with accident cover, contents with accident cover, and personal cover away from the home. After a few days of hunting I found this was going to be around £300 - £400 depending on whether we had personal cover. This was too much, and I was almost ready to give up. Luckily I found Halifax at the last minute. There site was one of the easiest and quickest I found for getting a quick and accurate quote. No asking for your full details from birth, how much cover you wanted etc, and some even asked for your driving convictions. No Halifax was simple, and they even cover for unlimited buildings and contents cover. The best of all is the quote was for £225 for everything I wanted. I even had to phone their helpline to confirm this. I just couldn?t believe it, and even their staff were nice and helpful. Well I am covered with the Halifax now, and have saved a small fortune. I would recommend anyone.
Halifax has got to be the worst insurance company I have ever had the displeasure of being with, as it is, car insurance happens to be biggest con, especially for drivers under the age of 26, until you reach that age, cannot protect your no claims bonus, so when I had the misfortune of a landrover reversing into the back of me, the hellish process began, I contacted Halifax to let them know the situation, they took down the details and told me that I would have to pay for the damage, until they had confirmation from the other driver, plus I would loss 4 years of my now claim bonus too, in this position, I obviously had no choice, but to go ahead, with out boring you anymore, the result so far is that, I am still awaiting any kind of news from Halifax, the accident happened in 1999. I can't believe it's taken almost two years to deal with..........
We have had our buildings and contents insurance with Halifax since we moved into our house 5 years ago. We have only claimed once or twice, but they have been brilliant. For instance this year I accidently broke the hifi and wasn't sure if we would be covered, so I just phoned up to check. The lady asked what had happened and how much the hifi was worth. So I told her and she then said there would be £50 knocked for the excess and the cheque would be with us in a few days!! I couldn't believe it could be so quick, and sure enough the cheque arrived the next day. I didn't have to fill any forms in or anything. Most people who I have spoken to have said they have to pay at least £100 for the excess. We don't have to pay an excess for theft, only £50 for accidental cover. I know that a lot of companies are now providing cheaper household insurance, but you have to check what the excess will be if you do have to make a claim.
