Hastings Direct

Hastings Direct do not encrypt your bank card details, all 16 numbers are on view for all of their employees to see. While I am sure they make every attempt to employ only honest people, no doubt some bad eggs get through. As a former employee I can assure you that not even the Criminal Records Bureau is contacted. I asked for my card details to be removed, but was told, by the head of Customer Service's manager in their Leicester office,that if a policy is in force, then as a company they are required to keep bank card details.I asked why? On returning from my recent trip to France, I came home to find to find two nasty surprises. The first was in my haste to leave I had forgotten to do the washing up and there was a good smelly pile of decaying plates and cups just waiting for an industrial hose. No one else to blame but myself on that one. The second nasty surprise was that my car had been stolen. As a student, my choice of Hastings for car insurance back in April 2007 was based purely on them giving me the cheapest quote after a number of searches on comparison and individual sites. At age 19, with one years no claims, they offered the cheapest quote by a margin of around £60 or so. The transfer from my previous insurer was smooth, and Hastings even managed to sort out my NCB rather than me having to pester my old insurer for it. Hastings Direct Hi, for anyone thinking of going with Hastings Direct, I would advise you to read the following email i sent to them after they refused to refund money they had taken, without me writing a letter to them enclosing proof of my new insurer, even though i had informed them that i would not be renewing with them prior to the old policy expiring. I did not even get an apology from them when i explained their error & the fact that it was costing me interest on my credit card!. Hastings Direct - POOR - Advantages: first quote is quite cheap, the customer help line is populated with understanding people who have little knowledge of the services and continually put you on hold while they speak to a manager., nothing else - Disadvantages: lost documents. penalties for cancelling which are not outlined in their documentation., really expensive renewal quotes which are hiked up even without a claim., neighbour had the same car and he was quoted over £100 less even though i had been with the company without claim for a 2nd year you figure it out.
